The Blanket

Okay, Drew is totally a Linus - he loves his blankets and hauls them around with him everywhere he goes. Well, the other night (or morning at about 3:45) we awoke to the sound our our closet door being bumped. After a few minutes we found Drew cuddled up in between the cradle legs and our closet door. He had had a little accident and somehow came into our room (he's going to make a great cat burglar some day). Anyhow, we had to wash his blankets and so I put them in the laundry room. Well, that set him off, not only because it was 4 o'clock in the morning, but also because they were his beloved blankets. After a few minutes of MAJOR tantrums, we started to implement our new rule - if there is a tantrum about some thing, it gets put away or thrown away. So, in trying to get him to quit with the tantrum, I told him I was going to throw his green blanket away (his favorite). But, he just kept on going with the tantrum, so in the trash went the green blanket.

With the threat of another one going in the trash, he finally calmed down and then Scott laid down in bed next to him to comfort him. For a few minutes they just sat there, but then all of a sudden Drew says, as he throws his hands up in the air, "Pretty rough, huh!?!" They discussed the causes and effects of the situation, then after a few minutes of contemplating Drew says, "But it was real soft."

We had a pretty good laugh - Drew says the funniest things.
