We celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival today - a festival of lunar worship (?) and moon watching. Okay, so we skipped the lunar worship part, come to think of it, I'm not sure we payed to much attention to the moon either. Oh well. Drew had the day off of school, so we played during the day. Scott tried to come home early to have dinner with us and to bring lanterns to the kids, but because of the holiday, it took him 3 hours to get home on the bus. I was going to put his grumpy picture in here, but he didn't want me to - but let's just say it was a pretty crusty look he gave the camera. Anyhow, he brought home mooncakes and lanterns that someone from his office had given to the kiddos.
Mooncakes are a small "cakes" that are filled with a lotus or sesame seed paste and a yolk from a salted duck egg. Yum, right?
Well, the kids did their best to eat a couple of bites and had fun playing with their lanterns, and that was that. Maybe we will do better next time....
