This weekend we went camping with some friends at McKinney Falls. We turned it into a birthday party for Drew too. So, the funny thing about this campground was it was only about 20 minutes from home, so it wasn't too much of a trip, but it was fun anyway. And, once we were inside the campground, it actually felt like we were far away. We got up there in the evening and set up camp, then attempted to cook our dinner. It was a bummer, though, that we didn't get to have a campfire - so we had to cook our food on a grill. The Strong's (Andrea, Marc, Mackay and Beckett) came up for dinner and some of the craziness, but couldn't stay the night.

But, the Anderton's (Natalie, Brady, Ava, and Abe) stuck out the whole night with us. Drew actually asked to go to bed, but mostly it was because there were air mattresses in the tent and he just wanted to play. We did get a couple of visitors in the camp - we had a very brave raccoon who kept coming back and then we had a little bitty skunk. I'm pretty sure though, that his smell would have been just as bad as any other. Anyhow, we stayed up late playing cards and having fun.
Then, in the morning we went on a walk up to the "falls" that were a low - no refunds. There wasn't much more than a trickle, but it was still beautiful. The kids had so much fun exploring the shores and the water for creatures, shells and what-nots. We found a frog - that I'm pretty sure is currently brain damaged - and a baby turtle and we can't forget the leeches (yikes!). After our hike, we headed back to camp for some banana boats, on the grill, of course, and then to pack up. We really enjoyed camping and being with our friends!
